Rotary Fish Barrier Screens
Our screens are ideal for the containment of threatened fish within a water body and the exclusion of undesirable species from such protected aquatic systems. Hydroscreen rotary fish barrier screens are available in the undershot and overshot configurations and are often used for hatchery isolation and hatchery water intake. Advantages include:
- Self cleaning
- No energy requirements
- Easy installation
- Non corrosive 304 stainless steel construction
The overshot rotary fish barrier screen is used where differential head is available and where fish containment is desired. Water passing through the top half of the drum is diverted to the sides of the drum where it flows into cups, which utilize gravity to provide rotational force for the drum. Debris on the upstream side of the drum is lifted by the rotating drum and is deposited on the downstream side of the drum.
The undershot rotary fish barrier screen passes water directly through the drum, which rotates to lift debris from the upstream side of the drum to be deposited on the downstream side of the drum. An internal paddle wheel drives a planetary gear system to provide drum rotation. The unit is used where low differential head is available and where higher flows are required.
Where flows vary greatly Hydroscreen rotary fish barrier screens can be rotated using solar power. The drum is powered by solar panels which charge batteries to operate a small fractional horsepower gear motor.
